Murder by the Book – A Vassalboro Library fundraiser
The Vassalboro Public Library is planning a theatrical play to take place at the Vassalboro Grange on October 19 and 20 of 2024. The play will be a fundraiser for the library. In addition to entertainment, we will have refreshments and baked goods available for our fundraiser. We could use your help in making this production happen. Opportunities to join the cast or assist in the production are open to people of all ages. Anyone interested in participation, either in the cast, in supportive roles, help with refreshments or as bakers are all urged to register.

The play is entitled “Murder by the Book,” written by Canadian playwright, Laura Teasdale. The play is inspired by the books of Louise Penny which feature the investigator Armand Gamache. Louise Penny has provided sponsorship and collaboration with Ms Teasdale in the play’s development and availability.
Murder by the Book is a comedy. Unlike the Penny series, it doesn’t take place in “Three Pines.” If you want to know whether it takes place in “six spruces” or “nine firs” or “eight hemlocks” you’ll need to mark your calendar for the Vassalboro production in late spring. The play will be produced by special arrangement with the Playwrights Guild of Canada. The play is set in a small town much like Vassalboro. The murder (sort of) takes place in the local library, much like the Vassalboro Library.
We are looking forward to these evenings of fun, fellowship and library fundraising.
