Are you interested in learning about Alewives? Representatives from Maine Rivers, Landis Hudson, and the Department of Marine Resources, Nate Gray, will be available for an informational session where you will view alewives in the fish ladder and learn about alewife life cycles, food web, and restoration efforts. Ray Breton will also be present to speak about the local history of alewives and the Mill history. There will be visit earlier in the morning with students from the Vassalboro Community School, so they will be ready to handle your questions!
At 11am participants will choose to listen to a reading from the Vassalboro Library Director and Trustees. They will read the alewife inspired book “Swimming Home,” by Susan Hand Shetterly.
An alewife fact sheet will be shared with parents for at home learning and reference.
