Library Temporarily Closed

Dear Vassalboro Community,
 
     In order to do our part in limiting the spread of Covid-19 we will closed temporarily until mid-April. This is not an easy decision to make, but is based on the recommendations from the CDC, State, and local officials.  Staff will continue to come in during regular business hours to continue library work.  We ask that no one- other than staff, volunteers, key-holders, and board members- request to come inside until further notice. 

     We also ask that anyone who has checked out library materials to hold onto them until we reopen.  Feel free to re-read them or let them sit on the shelf.  Our return box will remain open, however, and there is no need to renew your books.  Return them when we reopen and you can always call or email to leave a message (923-3233) vplibrary@gmail.com
     We will no longer be taking requests for books at this time.  This could change again in the weeks to come.  I sincerely apologize.  It is by far the hardest decision we have made especially as the weeks go by and families expect to stay at home.  However, it is no guarantee that we will not inadvertently spread this virus – based on recommendations from the CDC and State officials- and that is something we cannot risk.  

      We have a strong open-to-use wifi signal that can be used from our parking lot.  We are on the list as a Study-From-Car Hotspot.  We have a signal anywhere in our parking lot but the strongest is nearest the building in the parking spaces especially in front of the handicap sign.  I encourage anyone to come and use our Wifi anytime!  Study from Car

Please continue to use these everyday preventative measures recommended by the CDC:
1.     Stay home if you are sick, except to get medical care.
2.     Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
3.     Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 30 seconds.  Use hand sanitizer with at least 70% alcohol if you cannot wash.
4.     Cover your cough with a tissue and then throw it away.
5.     Practice social distancing and ideally keep 6 feet away from each other in public places.
